CONFERENCE VENUE
The Conference will be hosted in the campus of the University of Concepción located in a spacious park (50 has.) very close to the centre of the city and well connected by bus.
The city of Concepción (aprox. 400.000 people), the capital of Biobío Region, is on the north bank of the Biobío river (the second largest river of Chile), at about 9 kms from its flowing into the Arauco Gulf, Pacific Ocean. Its geographical situation is determining in the temperate-warm weather with maritime influence. It has 7-8 month wet season and a dry season in summer. The Biobío Región, due its morphological and climatic characteristics had an influence on the productive activities, which the most important ones, are the hydric and hydroelectric, fishing, forestry, agricultural and cattle-raising resources, which contribute over a 9% to the National GDP. The region and the city is also characteristic for being an industrial and an university area, 11 universities, 14 institutes and 21 Technical Training centers. The Universidad de Concepción is the third most important one in the country.
