Alto Bio Bio Lago Pangue (Bio Bio Heights and Pangue Lake)

A whole day of exuberant images amongst mountains, volcanoes, rivers, lakes, and green millenary forests. Magic and beauty are combined in the Pehuenche lands of the Bío Bío river. Along the line of the river, from Santa Bárbara to the lake Ralco (Ralko Lafken), reaching the hydroelectric central, we will enjoy the beauty of historical landscapes. We will leave Concepción at 07:30 am. Breakfast will be on board. We will make a quick stop in Los Ángeles. We will take the asta route, where the chapel of Santa Teresa de los Andes of Ralco is found, place where we can observe the relics of the Santa Mirador del Queuco, and in Ralco we can visit the Pehuenche museum. Then we will stop by the Pangue dam and Pangue Lake. We will have lunch at the Doña Pola hostel, have some down time in the pool, and when we get back we will visit the Piulo Bridge on our way to Concepción, arriving at 21:00 hrs.

Crafts, Wines and Salto Del Laja (Del Laja Waterfalls)

This program will take us on a tour through the Chilean country where we will see typical crafts of the area, we will enjoy of excellent wines and we will see first hand some of the more important natural attractions of the country, seal of the “Región del Bío Bío.” We will start our trip from Concepción at 10:00 am on our way to Quinchimalí, a small town, characteristic of the Chilean country, located 45 minutes away from Concepción, and it’s recognized by its crafts, specially the crafts made out of clay with techniques that are original from Chile. We will take a tour inside the town where we will be able to see the work of different craftsmen, and we will terminate it with a tasting of traditional empanadas and a glass of wine. Right after we will go to Bulnes, we will take the road in direction to an exclusive vineyard where we will get to see the elaboration process of fine wines, from start to finish. We will see how the wines are let stand inside wooden barrels, so that after being bottled they can accompany our delicious lunch. There will be a tasting of a variety of wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sira, Merlot, Carmenere and others. After the wine tasting, we will go south to get to what is considered a great natural monument, the “Salto del Laja,” with its imponent waterfalls. We will get close to the bottom of one of the waterfalls from where we will be able to observe the beautiful rainbows that are formed as the masses of water fall meters and meters down. Without a doubt, only the Salto del Laja can deliver such a spectacle. We get back to Concepción at approximately 18:00 hrs.

Lota, History and Adventure

At 9:00 am we will meet with the passengers to start our way to the historical city of Lota, place where we will get to know the life of its founders and miners. We will visit the “Parque Isidora Cousiño” (Isidora Cousiño Park), we will find out about its history, walk amongst its gardens, galleries of statues of mythological characters, paths with native and exotic vegetation, birds, peacocks, and observe the “Golfo de Arauco” (Arauco Gulf) from Lota’s natural balconies. In the historical museum “Las Isidoras,” which is the name given to the museum guides, will explain to you the history of the Cousiño family of Lota with the help of pictures and objects. Then we will venture to the “Chiflón del Diablo” mine, only mine in the world enabled to take visitors. We will go 40 mt down the mine, accompanied by expert miners that will tell us stories, myths and legends of the mine. (Helmet, belt, and battery will be provided. It is recommended to wear light clothes and thick shoes). We will be back in Concepción at 14:30 hrs approximately.

Panoramic City tour of Concepción

With the panoramic tour you will get to know downtown Concepción and the “Parque Ecuador.” You will be able to enjoy the complete view of the city from the heights of the “Cerro Caracol” (Caracol hills). Then we will visit the Universidad de Concepción and its characteristic “Arco de Medicina” (“Arch of Medicine”) and the “Casa del Arte” (“House of Art”). We will then head downtown where we will see the “Palacio de Tribunales” (“Tribunales Palace”), the “Plaza Independencia” (“Independence Square”), and the “Catedral Católica” (“Catholic Cathedral”). We will then cross the Bío Bío river to visit the commune of San Pedro de la Paz, its small lakes and residential sectors.

One Day Rafting Bio-Bio Program (CLASS III/IV)

Our adventure will start at 07:30 am from Concepción. We will make a quick stop in Los Ángeles. Breakfast will be served on board and approximately at 11:30 am we will reach the Ralco river where we will prepare the rafts, and get our equipment and rafting instructions. We will begin sailing 25 km to enjoy the exiting rapids class III and IV. In addition to the incomparable landscapes, with our rafting guides we will live the exhilarant experience of the sailing through the rapids for about two and a half to three hours. We will leave the rafts at “Aguas Blancas” (“White Waters”) where we will get the chance to share our personal experiences while enjoying a delicious Chilean style barbecue. We will be back in Concepción at 22:00 hrs approximately.
